Betcha a lot of people screw this up. After my plane came from the A&P
one time, I noticed that I really had to pull the starter WAY out before
things started to spin. Before, it seemed to turn after only about a
half-inch
pull. This must be more like 3/4 or 7/8.

Kind of found it an annoyance, especially as the spring takes more
of a tug as the handle comes farther out.

Apparently it is a symptom of it having been adjusted properly!

I wonder how many people experience this same thing and adjust
it so that it's easier to get things spinning, in the process starting
the motor when the teeth are half-engaged.
