----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Ed; I had problems with the valves in my O-200 after only 100 hr. since MOH (the overhaul was done by someone unknown to me). When I took the cylinders to the cylinder shop, all of the intake valves had too little clearance between the guide and the valve. The cylinder man said that several things
could cause the problem (all which ended up with too little clearance). He resolves it by first using a reamer, which wears with use and loses its proper tolerance, and following it with a hone. He carefully hones the guide until it is at the maximum clearance limit in the overhaul manual. He said that solved the problems of his cylinders having sticking valves. Of course, to do it that way requires removing the cylinder(s) and a lot more labor than doing it in place. It does appear to be a common problem though, and fairly often caused by the cylinder shop doing the work getting in a hurry.
