Hi guys
I have been in touch with the franklin folks 3 times about the coupe.
Somebody needs to re-classify their plane experimental, Buy the engine,
mags,alt/starter, and prop (It takes a special flange) for around $14.000
There will be no price break. Then you have to figure out how to hook up
everything. I always thought it would bolt right in where my 85 went. They
say NOT.... Need to rework all the baffeling etc and it will all have to
be
hand made since there are no patterns. You will need to log all this in
detail and when your done fly the thing and log every flight in detail for
countless hours. then the FAA gets to look at it all whenever they want.
And
after your done with all this and have done all the work, paid for all the
gas, donated your time and got not one cent off the retail price and not
one
cent of assistance they get their STC and then we can all pay them for
your
hard work. I have all the paperwork and pricelists if anybody else wants
to
step up to the plate. But after several lenghtly calls to franklin, the
FAA,
The EAA with reclassification help and alot of thought I'm convinced the
cost will well exceed $20.000 with my time, fuel and several trips to
Colorado from Virginia. I am told the O-200 with aftermarket pieces will
go
close to 125hp for alot less and everything is already setup.
Considering I was about to help them get the goods to sell their engines
to
the coupers I thought I'd maybe even get a break on the engine. Nope... I
dont even get a cut from the stc sales....
