Hi Folks
For the record, as of 9/18/99 when I declined the privilege of being the
Franklin STC guinea pig there was no STC available for the ercoupe. They
had
one guy before me who was going to try but then disappeared. After I found
out the cost and the fact they were going to charge me full retail for the
engine and all the incurred expenses of changing it over and not even
offer
to help with the fuel, logging, paperwork or re-certification I also
backed
out. Your going to have $13.000 worth invested and an engine in a crate
for
starters. Now go get the prop, Design your own wiring and baffling, do the
actual engine change. Re-certify your plane experimental before you leave
the ground, mandatory 100 hour ($600.00) inspections are required for the
STC process. Fly and log every second of the next 1000 hours and then
apply
for the stc yourself. if you can seriously do this for under $20.000 I'd
be
greatly surprised! And if you DO get the STC how many of the rest of us
will
use that STC? Enough to even break even? If THE FACTORY thought so they'd
have purchased the plane and done it themselves. That's how they did EVERY
OTHER ONE they hold. But they wont buy and build a coupe.... Hmmmmm But
for
the record the company president says there is no STC and no Franklin in a
coupe currently that he knows of.

Claude
