Ken,

Thanks for your comments on John Wright's Corrosion seminar. Wish I could
have been there.

This past week I read an article ---maybe self serving ---from some
corrosion treatment company, about the use of polyurethane paints being so

moisture proof that the use of the paints on aluminum could trap moisture
in
aluminum and cause corrosion.  Wow, I don't know if that is true or not;
but
sure makes one think twice about previous decisions to use Polyurathanes,
etc.,...

Maybe someone knowledgeabe on this issue could address this potential
damaging effect..Are airplanes painted with polyurathanes being set up for

major corrosion problems????? Is trapping moisture under paint more
damaging
than leaving the aluminun unpainted - to form a natural protective
oxidation
layer???

I still have not AD/Swiss Cheesed- my coupe...so it is just sitting...
More
and more I tend toward removal of the fabric and complete inspection - on
what I originally thought was way overkill on a very limited problem.

I'm curious about the corrosion problems on other similar aged aluminum
parts
---other aircraft...I find it hard to believe that the aluminum
manufacturing
problem would be limited to ercoupe parts.
