The Arkansas Picnic is sponswered by EOC Wing Leader Marilyn Cantrell and her crew of too few. It is being held Sept 16-19 at the Batesville Regional Airport (BVX)in North Central/East Arkansas. Batesville is on the Far East side of the Shirley 1 MOA. The airstrip is large, the picnic grounds are large and flat with multiple area tents for happenings, there are tie-down
cables (bring rope), toilets and showers, and both coupers and non-coupers to converse with. The majority of people show up on Sat and stay until Sunday, but some come earlier (the young retired crowd). Last year there was a young female skydiver who made repeated jumps for the crowd, including at least one jump from an Alon. Hopefully she will come back this year. She was great about explaining her sport and showing off the workings of her chute. A couple of ultralights showed up last year and several of us are encouraging others to participate, including a Sixchuter. (But that isn't firmed up). Marilyn is having a working party on Sept 11 from 10:00 to 2:00, or as long as anyone can stay, and anyone who would like to make a dry run to see the place and do some volunteer work before the picnic would be showered with affection by Marilyn. She is sending me a copy of the flyer so I can scan it into an email for the group. She would like for everyone close enough to come to post a copy of the flyer at their local airports. So plan to attend. You can camp-out or stay in a motel. Ken Doyle Springfield, Mo Alon N5477E
