Maybe, but it also had to have a controllable rudder to be a decent 
trainer.
It's not legal for spins, but you can practice entry and recovery.  

That's one of the things I don't like, I like to do spins and
I hate that this airplane isn't legal for them.  To me that
makes it a marginal trainer, because I'm one of those who 
thinks spin training is important.
