I may have the answer to your problems. When I went looking for a coupe ten years ago I missed one advertised as having the paperwork all correct. It
turned out to be one of my friends from grammar school who I had not seen for a very long time. His next door neighbor was an IA who worked for the airlines and who took perfect care of this airplane. I was too late to get that plane but he told me of his experiences learning to fly the coupe. He had had a lot of trouble with crosswind landings to the point that two instructors would not fly the plane. He eventually found that the rudder cables were reversed which caused some interesting behavior with large control movements but little trouble in cruise. When the cables were corrected he was much happier with the plane. He went on to buy a Tramahawk which may not have been the best choice. My coupe came out of the back yard of an Eastern Airlines captain who owned several other airplanes. He had brought the coupe home to work on it but used it mostly as a leaf blower. When I got it home it seems that it had not flown from 1970 to 1988 when I bought it. One of the many things wrong with it was that the rudder cables were reversed. My coupe has rudder pedals so I do not know whether it was ever flown in this condition. Several of us looked at the rudder cables questioning whether we were wrong or the cables were wrong. So I suppose your cables are correct but are you sure? Bob Condon
