I've been using the Magellan GPS Pioneer since it first came out
and am very satisfied with it. It has been renamed to the Magellan
GPS300 and is available at WalMart and KMart for a normal price of
$99.95 and is sometimes on sale for $10.00 less. It sure is wonderful to
never have to be concerned about being lost, to always know where you
are, and have continuous accurate readout of actual ground speed, actual
heading, and time and distance to go. I enter my destination airports
easily from the lat/long info in the Airport and Facility Directory we
are always supposed to be carrying anyway. It uses two "AA" alkaline
batteries which supposedly last for 24-hours of continuous use.

By all means purchase the more expensive aviation units if you can
afford it and you can make good use of the extra bells and whistles.
This much less expensive unit will do the job though and is just as
accurate. It might even be a good idea to have one of these as a backup
in case your expensive aviation unit decides not to work when you need
it.
