I'm afraid I expressed my question poorly. It was intended to be a technical question and not one on the pros and cons of smoking. Also I was wrong. I looked up the TC's through Tom Laird-McConnell's great web page ercoupers.com. You 415C&CD owner/smokers can breathe easier(if you can), it doesn't apply to you. Sorry I was wrong and apologize. With your forebearance I'll restate my question.
TC787 requires that all 415D-G Ercoupes and Forneys have a NO SMOKING placard in the cabin, yet the Alon, also under 787 has two ashtrays, a cigar lighter and no placard requirement. I don't smoke. But I owned a 415D Coupe and a Alon at the same time (couldn't make up my mind which one to sell). I always wondered about that placard. It was on the panel. So my question should have been: Does that placard mean there is some potential danger unique about smoking in those Coupe models and not an Alon? I'm now inclined to think it's because, as Don Mack suggested, there were no ash trays installed,a requirement of TC787 that was not in TC718.(337 anybody) Best Regards and sorry about the confusion on my part.....Cliff
