Of course you must wonder why:

   a. Anyone who valued their medical would smoke, and thereby
increase their risk of countless diseases that will do in both
their qualification for even a class 3 medical, their ability to
deal with even Ercoupe cruising altitudes, not to mention
       their very lives.
   b. Anyone in their right mind would light up a butt in the presence
of an antique aircraft's in-the-cockpit fuselage tank, perhaps a
leaky whisky (actually kerosene) compass, old-time flammable
upholstery, and no place to go (but down) in case of fire.

(If you want a horrifying example of what can happen when a Coupe
catches fire, read about the poor sod in California who, with his lady
friend, caught fire in flight. Sobering indeed.)

Don't smoke at all. If you really must, for heavens sake don't do it in
old airplanes!
