What the below messages tell me is that 'coupes are no safer
than any other plane; they have their weak spot, namely such
a high landing speed (and lack of rudder authority on
3-control models) that landing accidents are higher than
many other aircraft.  Maybe all coupe models ought to have a
roll bar to keep the cockpit intact.  It would also be a
great place to attach a shoulder harness.
