most of input discarded by courier is certainly faulty, but there is no
doubt on how to process it and forward to the right recipient.

If this is true, I second Courier ought to go that extra mile to support faulty input. After all it supposedly grew out of dissatisfaction with qmail -- and qmail for one loves bounce mail to tell other postmasters to fix their clients -- for example in regard to the CRLF standard.
