Re: how I know IMAP is working - I first copied over the maildirs
(~/.maildir) from my Linux machine to my FreeBSD machine (~/Maildir), and I
can run Evolution or Squirrelmail and see the messages and folders fine.
Also, when I ran maildrop manually, the message I created appeared in the
inbox.

How do you know?  What does "mailq" say?  Is "courierd" running?  Select 
one of the files in /var/spool/courier/msgq/ and post it to the list. 
The file will contain information about when courier has attempted 
delivery and why it hasn't been completed.
