I've been looking into this too - Vodaphone will hire phones to you at
Auckland airport. I haven't got any details on the price yet.

Hello folks,
I've just learned from Telecom that their "US roaming" service only
works with certain models of CDMA phones, i.e. not my flash new
Hyundai :-( -- and no longer works with the older "025" phones,
i.e. not the one I have on the shelf, and which I used just fine last
time I went over there.

Does anyone know if the US now has "hire at the airport" cellphones,
or inexpensive prepays I could buy for use during my sojourn there
next month?

How do the world travellers among you currently manage US
communications when you go there?

Thanks in advance!

cheers,
peter
