Coincidentally, I was speaking to the Chch Airport folks -- their
prices were about $10/day for month-long rentals which also adds up
pretty quickly, let alone the call rates.

I also checked out  http://www.pracom.co.nz which Leeanne had
recommended, but they no longer do "consumer" products (sold the
division May 1 to an Oz company, no local contact info).

And, for the record, Keith's "021 worked for me in the US last year"
is quite correct IF you have the right TRIPLE-band 021 phone to suit
the US network. Most/all earlier Vodaphone models were double-band,
and can't do it, hence the gouging rental prices on offer at the
airports.

Thus, like Shaun, I'm interested in ex-US airport (or rental car
agency) rental pricing now...
