VALVe claims that they gave a lot of $$ for prizes and it's in their own
best interest that the competitive players are satisfied.
Calling this "my pet problem" is just lame and proves that you have
absolutely no idea to what you are talking about.

The default screen is something players had to look at for a short time,
when connecting to a server and this is, without a doubt, a low priority
issue.
Updates to the spectator UI is also low priority and that goes for any
aspect of it.

Currently we have players who experience a lot of common gameplay problems
and these are, of cause, high priority.
No one bought this game because they want a neat default screen or because
they want to spectate people, they want to play a game and this is why
gameplay issues need to be high priority.

It's not either or. I am sure they are resolving the problems in the most
efficient way and it's not like they're specifically not fixing your pet
problems.
