I have a icon which I bought at St. Josephs - Jesus holding a jewelled
copy of a book, and he is giving the mojo sign.
This painting is a very famous painting, done in the Byzentine period.
I often wondered why jewells would be painted on this book; and what the
mojo meant then.
Some call this the sign of the devil; however, I do not know. I do not
know who painted this picture; and, the lady in the gift shop which is
located in this beautiful dungeon type cellar, did not know.
Please forgive misspelled words. i aint what I used to be.
There was a jewelled copy of the Rubyait aboard the Titanic, that must
have been worth a fortune; have never been able to find out how old this
book was; but, its design looked very similar to the book held in the
painting.
Another puzzle is my Hogarth picture engraved in 1790 entitled the
Bathos, the end of all things or the - there is a cracked bell and the
crack is just like the one in our Liberty Bell, which did not crack
until the 1800 period. Of course that company had a lot of recalls.
If anyone knows anything about the mojo and the picture of Jesus, would
love to know more about it.
