-Caveat Lector-

In a message dated 99-05-25 18:03:15 EDT, Ric Carter writes:

<< So, you're saying that all citizens of Russia and China, even if they're
entrepeneurs, merchants, capitalists engaged in [hopefully profitable]
business, are really Communists, dedicated to collective ownership of
the means of production? Really? >>

Communists being dedicated to collective ownership of the means of production
is a dictionary definition. Communists are dedicated to taking over the
world, making everyone go with their idea of government (ever read the
Communist Manifesto) whether they like it or not. This of course, is the
Elites idea, not the common working people's idea.

<< One of my wife's coworkers, a COBOL
programmer on insurance systems, is a Ukranian Jew, formerly resident
in Moscow, who came with her family to the US in 1988. Her husband owns
and operates a dry-cleaning business here now. When the USSR collapsed,
their citizenship became Russian, and they keep those passports. But
by your criteria, even though they're credit-card-carrying Capitalists,
they're really Communists and should be deported, is that right? J'z...
Yvgenia is a good programmer; if she's deported, your premiums may jump.>>

Aside from the fact that COBOL is an ancient language and the insurance
company you're speaking of is way behind the times ... having a credit card
makes one a Capitalist? This would be a special case, they are not working
with sensitive top secret nuclear devices, super computers, or high tech
satellite communications. Also being Ukranian, they may not have the mindset
of being hard-line Communists and are not scientists or government workers.
Even if they were spys I don't think we have much to fear from a COBOL
programmer or a dry cleaner.

<<> American citizens who are Communists should not be expelled from the
 > country because they have the right to their own political beliefs.

Naturalized as well as native-born citizens?>>

I don't see any reason why not.

<<Were the Rosenbergs convicted of ESPIONAGE or TREASON?

The Rosenbergs were convicted of espionage. Treason is a betrayal of trust
... trust that a President, Congress, military people, and scientists working
for the Defense department will not kill us, or set us up to be killed or
have our government taken away by force. To me, Clinton, Bush, the bureau
that let these people steal these secrets etc. were betraying a trust.

<< BTW Jefferson
Davis was indicted for treason, but not convicted. "Tokyo Rose" and
"Axis Sally" were both convicted of treason, and imprisoned. Treason
trials have been rare in the US since Aaron Burr, 1805.>>

Interesting, but because treason has been a rare occurance does not mean that
we should not prosecute traitors.

<< IIRC a state of war usually must exist for treason can be committed -
or a state of international hysteria, like The Cold War. So if the
media whip up a popular frenzy, and/or Congress declares war on China,
THEN charges of treason can be brought, against... somebody?>>

The Constitution implies, but does not restrict treason to only wartime
situations, it also mentions enemies, which I think would apply here.

<< Clinton just survived an impeachment attempt - will Congress go after him
for
treason this year? As long as the economy looks to be thriving, will
there be any popular support for treason trials? Ya sure... >>

I believe he was impeached, just not removed from office? That impeachment
was fixed from the beginning with Starr having ties to Mrs. Clinton in
business dealings. It also showed that this was merely a dog and pony show
for the uninformed and dumbed-down masses to make them think we still have a
two party system. Notice how they put a spin (lies) on the whole affair ...
treating it like it was just about sex, infidelity and being extremely
stupid. Nothing was brought up by the prosecution about the sale of super
computers, taking of bribes from Red China to finance his campaign, nothing
about Whitewater, nothing about Filegate, nothing about Ron Brown, Vince
Foster or a myriad of other real issues ... just sex. A pure bullshit trial.
As far as the President being responsible for the economy ... more
poppycock, many Americans are too stupid to understand that the Fed controls
the money supply, not the President and the media just keeps promoting this
lie.

Bob Stokes
