No you don't. You don't need a car every two or three years. You don't need
new clothes every fashion season. You don't need the latest crappy software
from Microsoft every time they put out an upgrade. You don't need Pokemon
cards. You don't need new music cd's. You don't need movies, or sports, or
night clubs. There are many things we don't need. BUT...we are brainwashed by
constant, ubiquitous advertising day in, day out, year after year. EVERYWHERE.

I personally am the wrong person to say that to. In my family we have a rule
that says - if it's advertised on TV we don't buy it. My kids don't even ask
for the shitty toys they see on TV anymore. They get plenty of things they want,
but not due to corporate exploitation of children.
In our home, we MUST mute all commercials. This is a great technique for
counteracting corporate mind control. After a short while, you can't stand to
hear commercials, even at someone else's home.

No argument from me.

Yes actually it is. I didn't design our society to function this way, but
someone else did. There is very little freedom of choice in this country.
Economically AND politically. This is no accident. Capitalism REQUIRES control
of everything by the Rich. Otherwise they would have to compete in the market
and the political arena. Capitalism is the system devised by the Rich, FOR the
Rich. If you are not rich, it's only a matter of time before it damages you.
Americans need to understand this. The choice is not Capitalism or Socialism.
The choice is open. We as citizens can design a system which benefits US. But
this won't happen as long as the Rich are running things, because they LOVE the
system that makes them richer and more powerful. If that system keeps people
poor, stupid, unhealthy, uneducated, criminal, and violent, what the heck! It's
not THEIR problem.
