Okay, now for my comments....

I always said the fisherman story was fishy. What fisherman could afford not
to be out fishing for the past 5 months, and instead just hang out with the
Miami gang?

> Thanksgiving Day was the first time The Cleaner had ever gone fishing.

So he isn't even a hobby fisherman.

So he admits the gun was never near his head...remember I said the photo showed
the gun pointing below and too the left of his left elbow...

A very tiny room. Does this sound like normal behavior for a 40-year-old man,
to be lying in bed with a male child not his own flesh-and-blood? In and of
itself it may have been totally innocent, but pair it with the bit that follows
about Elian licking his face, something The Cleaner seems to have found pretty
exciting, and then the fact about his marital troubles, and we seem to have a
very troubling picture of this guy emerging...

Shades of Michael Jackson here? A tendency to prefer little boys?

Or at least a troubling tendency to view a troubled child as nothing more than
a pet, a new puppy that excitedly licks your face...

Yes, who exactly IS paying for these bills. Just who ARE these 'admirers'...

Great, just what we need, another politician with the IQ of a garden slug...

Indeed.

It might be interesting to find out more about his 'stint in the military'...
plus the so-called 'missionary work'...

??????!!!!!!

So this guy is married? But he spends all his free time with the Miami gang
laying in bed with a 6 year old boy while the child licks his face?

Not only would his military history perhaps be interesting to delve into, I
suspect the 3 Mrs. Dalrymple's perhaps have an interesting tale or two to tell,
and could definitely shed some light on The Cleaner's character...

It also sounds like he's ashamed of his current marital status....and didn't
want anyone to know that he currently has a wife...

> "Why is my personal life relevant here?" he asks angrily. "I'm the savior of
> a boy."

It is relevant because any judge assessing who should have custody of a child
will look at the people who are part of the household or permitted to hang
around the household, and determine their morals and ethics -- or lack thereof
-- to make the decision as to who would be the best custodian of the child.

I didn't realize Elian was found in an orange shirt and trousers.

I've always found the story that the mother managed to get Elian into an inner
tube before she and every other adult went down with the ship a little too pat
of a story...especially when I learned that it's claimed the kid floated around
for 3 days, and wasn't dehydrated when found, neither was he sunburned. Heck,
pictures of him when he was rescued shows he didn't even have a tan!

Some people would like to believe the fact that he wasn't dehydrated (at least
not to the extent one would expect of a little boy -- remember, a child's
body doesn't have as much fluid as an adult, and so they dehydrate much sooner
than an adult) and that he wasn't sunburned is a sign of a 'miracle'.

Perhaps. But I suspect a more mundane, down-to-earth cause. I suspect that
the boat was helped along in sinking, and that Elian was held somewhere for
over 2 days, only put out in that inner tube Thanksgiving morning in that
bright orange outfit, easily spotted from afar...

And we have a very strange housecleaner, who is very reticent to talk about
his military and social background, not only 'discovering' Elian, but immediately
ingratiating himself with Elian's Miami relatives and from that day forward
spending all his spare time in an abnormally close relationship with the child...

> But The Fisherman doesn't deny that he summoned TV cameras before showing up
> at the Gonzalez home two days after the rescue. "The television cameras
> waited outside for their cue from me while I said hello to the family," he
> recalls. "I thought it was important that people know about this miracle."

And of course, know about the "Miracle Worker"...

So it seems that we can lay the blame for the subsequent media circus at the
feet of The Housecleaner...perhaps if he hadn't stuck his nose in where it
didn't belong, the Miami Gonzalez's would not have been savvy enough to
orchestrate the subsequent sideshow themselves...

> Virtually every day thereafter, for the next five months, he raced from work
> to the house in Little Havana.

So that perhaps explains how he supported himself over the past 5 months...he
was supposedly working as a housecleaner in the mornings and rushing to the
Gonzalez's in the afternoon...

But it doesn't explain how he could afford to hop a plane to DC on Saturday and
leave his business behind...

Who's cleaning the houses now? Are his clients going to be so understanding as
to let him neglect his contracts for an unknown amount of time? If I was one
of his clients, I'd definitely be looking for a new housecleaner right about
now...

> Although he speaks very little Spanish, "I'd
> do things with Elian - go on the swings, watch TV," he says.

And lay in that tiny bed with him in that tiny room and get off on Elian
licking him...

> He was sleeping just 10 feet from Elian on Saturday morning while the
> family's attorney tried to negotiate a settlement with Attorney General
> Janet Reno and the Justice Department. "Nobody in the family believed in
> their wildest dreams that the government would ever come to the house and
> get Elian," says Dalrymple,

Yeah, that's why they had an NBC cameraman and an AP photographer spend the
night...

> When the feds knocked down the front door, Dalrymple grabbed Elian and ran,
> desperate to find an escape route, only to hear Associated Press
> photographer Alan Diaz say: "Sit tight, Donato. There's nowhere to go."

Now remember, his and Marisleysis' version that they gave during the Saturday
'house tour' video was that Dalrymple immediately ran into the back bedroom
with Elian...

Now he admits he was trying to find an escape route...what escape route could
he have thought there would be in the back bedroom? The window that was
visible in the video is the typical South Florida window for that sort of
room in that sort of house -- small, and high up towards the ceiling. A very
unlikely escape route for a large man, altho conceivable a small boy may have
been able to be pushed through...

No, I believe that he and Marisleysis first tried to get out the back door,
but when they realized the INS was also there, only then did Dalrymple run
into that bedroom, where I believe the AP photographer had been set up to
take the perfect poster shot for their cause. First choice was to escape
with Elian; barring that, the plan was to position themselves so as to get
the best photo op to suit their purposes...

Why else did the AP photographer not shoot any photos of the INS entering
the front door, knocking out the NBC cameraman? Wouldn't that have been a
good photo? And why else aren't there any photos of the INS leaving with
Elian? For some reason Diaz seems to have only taken a handful of shots --
7 I've heard, out of a whole roll of film -- of the raid, all taken inside
the bedroom, from an angle he only could have achieved if he was already
in the bedroom before Dalrymple ran in there with Elian.

> He stood wanly in the closet, awaiting the inevitable, with Elian squeezing
> his neck and screaming. "We didn't have a hope of hiding," he recalls.

Of course they didn't. There was absolutely no reason to run in there instead
of just handing Elian to the INS out in the livingroom, or in the kitchen...
no reason, except to set the scene for a photo damning of the INS to be taken...

> He mutters this while absently picking at a thread on his new blue shirt,
> the one he wore to church with Lazaro and Marisleysis Gonzalez on Easter

Let's see...this guy goes fishing on Thanksgiving instead of visiting family,
including his own wife...but he spends Easter with the Miami gang in church...
