If I changed right back to LANG=en_US.ISO8859-1 and started CTWM again with the same title font:
"-b&h-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-sans-12-120-75-75-m-70-iso10646-1" The Swedish characters in the menu item worked. Perhaps I misunderstood something.
