In the words of Keyshawn Johnson, Come On Mannnn!  With no disrespect to anyone
on this board, smoking does not cause littering - littering causes littering.
If you will go out and look at the debris on the road and in the parks, and
beaches, etc. the vast majority of the trash by volume is fast food bags and
plastic drink bottles.  What are we gonna do, ban McDonalds and Coke?  Whenever
I smoke something, I always stamp it out, pour water on it (to prevent fires)
and throw it in the trash like most repsonsible people.  I am not supporting or
admonishing smokers.  I am just tired of the daily whittling away of our
individual liberty to the point where we are just becoming a bunch of lemmings
purcolating in a festering stew of mediocrity.

Amen,

I spent this past week at Avon on the outer banks.  Didn't get to ride my new
bike as a result of the accident so I went to the beach with eight grand kids
and had great fun.  Butts all over the beach are only part of the issue. It
seemed that everyplace I
went on the beach, cigarette smoke followed me and the smoke takes away so
much from my enjoyment.  While I agree that it would be better if government
wasn't involved, that seems to be the only way to control it at least to some
degree.  It seems so good
to go into smoke-free restaurants now.

Well said, I am not in favor of more gov't intervention, butt the smokers have

their actions or those of their children.  One reason I retired.
