A reflection on today's Scripture:

As I read, then re-read today's readings - especially today's Gospel,
I found myself asking "what are you saying, Lord?" I didn't
understand it then, and I still don't fully it now. Such is prayer.
And prayer is always answered; not always when we snap our little
fingers together, but always it is answered. I have a sense that Our
Lord was speaking not only about His Passion, His Resurrection and
Return in Glory, but also He was speaking to each of us.

In today's Gospel, He speaks of His return and how the world will
then be so indifferent to the things of God. Now, it doesn't take a
learned moral theologian to see clear evidence of that today; nor a
great bible scholar or historian to discern that such has always been
so. Was, Jesus then referring to some past, present or future event?
Perhaps all three?

What were you about? ... what ARE you about? Would you return to what
you were? Those are the thoughts I am reminded of as I hear mention
of folks in the fields, on roof tops, asleep. I am reminded of
conversion and of living and working for God. Working, witnessing,
and resting in His Spirit. Likewise, I think about those whose work
and words are dead to His Spirit.

I'm reminded about thoughts of daily choices, of our daily lives, of
all the 'business as usual' stuff, all those lives that have ended,
and will be ending; and that life with the Lord will never end.

Praise God!
