I couldn't agree more Markus, expectations of increased performance are generally overrated.
And let's not lose track of the fact that even an old core 2 duo combined with a decent graphic card can provide excellent performance on dt. To be fair mine's now a quad core (and also running at faster clock speed) thanks to a cheap cpu upgrade courtesy of ebay, and it is perceptibly faster - but only just. Can I borrow your worksforme(tm)? Which features? There are no relevant features except of 12,5% / 16,6% more nominal speed for a lot of money. I try to buy new hardware with the best bang-for-the-buck ratio, or at least close to the sweet spot. The last few percent of performance (and you will most likely never need/miss them) are unreasonable expensive. Maybe is my threshold of pain a bit increased, i would still use my core 2 duo notebook if the GPU had not died. But: worksforme(tm) is really cheap (and better for the environment). And buying photo gear is a lot more fun ... (well, there are side-effects, i need to buy a new backpack now ...) just my 2ยข Markus ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites.
