Hi HaJo,
Thanks! I found an ICC profile for the Canon T3i, named 6000 (which I
guess would be for the 600D). That did the trick. I've been taking a lot
of pictures of the sky, and all the subtlety of the colour has been
restored! So much better. Unfortunately the curve needed for "unbreak
input profile" is still very difficult to get EXACTLY, so I'm still
slightly stumped, because although the colour is great, the tones are all
strange. Still this is leaps and bounds ahead of where I was before.
Here are examples of the exports of the pictures
http://greenbeemedia.com/stuff/dt-color-experiments/ including a scaled
down version of the embedded preview. If you want a copy of the raw to
take a look, that's fine. As you will probably notice, there's a turquoise
quality to the ICC profiled version, which is there mainly because of the
unbreak input profile curve isn't quite right, but is closer to the
original colour I saw, and shows up in some of the other photos that were
taken out of the set, so it's a lot truer to the original. Further,
linearRGB seems to have a colour that is similar, but any attempts to use
velvia do bring more saturated color, but not quite as close all the time.
Any idea where I can find proper settings for "unbreak" as well as a proper
"base curve" to use?

Get your SQL database under version control now!
Version control is standard for application code, but databases havent
caught up. So what steps can you take to put your SQL databases under
version control? Why should you start doing it? Read more to find out.
