Coincidentally, after this thread really arose my interest, I figured that
quite a few of these
profiles are readily available on the Internet. I downloaded one for my Canon
7D and tried it compared to the enhanced matrix that DT offers. The difference
between both is only noticeable in the reds with the downloaded profile turning
the reds down a bit. A bit!
But, to start with, I can not complain about the base curve throwing off the
reds badly, my skin tones look proper -- no matter whether I use the enhanced
matrix or the downloaded profile. For me, removing the lowest point in the
curve throws the left end up and therefore washes out the darkest parts badly.
All this with proper output color profile applied, that is. If I mess with
that, the reds get very badly blown up, yes.
So, I doubt that there's a bug in DT unless it just creeped in in one of the
recent github versions.

Oh yes, and switch of basecurve for this, and set input profile also
to "linear RGB".
