You need glib/gmime for 2.1.0 no matter what. Ldap is optional.

thats bad since gmime has no package for core1. compilation does break at sum stage and this causes dbmail is incompatible with fedora core1.

So how old is core1? Dbmail-2.1 is not supported on debian/stable (woody)
either.

why touch a running system?! hope 2.0 branch will be supported in future too not only the 2.1 branch which does not work anymore around here.

Sigh. Dbmail-2.1 is the unstable branch. It's where the main development is happening. Dbmail-2.0 will be supported until we branch for 2.2 after which 2.2 will be the stable series, and development will shift to 2.3.

If you want a stable system and no hassles: don't use 2.1 until others have ironed out the issues involved.

But if core1 doesn't support glib2.0 or gmime2.0, you may consider upgrading to a more current distro.
