GHANA:

MAULVI WAHAB RUBBISHES ABOLITION OF DEATH PENALTY

The Ameer of the Ahmaddiyah Muslims Mission in Ghana Maulvi Wahab Adam has
strongly contested suggestions from a section of human right activists
that death penalty should be expunged from the statute books.

According to him, the call from the human rights advocators is a misplaced
priority.

Speaking to Kessben News, Maulvi Wahab observed that in line with the
dictates of the Koran, no person has the legitimate right to take the life
of another.

Therefore any person who commits murder is supposed to be charged duly
according to the law, by meting out death punishment to the person.

This he noted will serve as a deterrent to others who want to commit
similar offences.

Against this background, the Ameer described the call by the human rights
advocators as an endorsement of serious offence such as murder which will
not augur well for the development of the state.
