THAILAND/NEW ZEALAND:

Alleged NZ drug smuggler faces death penalty


A New Zealander is reportedly facing the death penalty after being
arrested on drug charges in Thailand.

The Herald on Sunday says 49-year-old Kerry Graeme Mitchell has been
picked up for allegedly attempting to smuggle 40 kilograms of heroin out
of Phuket.

Thai police say 2 Hong Kong nationals implicated Mr Mitchell after they
were detained with 2 suitcases of heroin.

They believe the group was planning to ship the heroin to Australia.
