Hello Christian!

As you have seen, upstream has closed the bug that you have created
in their bug tracker. I don't think there will be any changes in that
regard, especially considering that the code in question has been
completely overhauled in newer versions of OpenSCAD.

My suggestion would be to upload OpenSCAD 2014.03+dfsg-1 to wheezy
backports. Additional dependencies that would need to be backported
would be harfbuzz and a newer version of cgal.

I am friends with one of the OpenSCAD developers and he told me
that they receive bug reports against the 2011.12 version from
time to time and usually those issue are fixed by updating to the
latest upstream version 2014.03. A backport of OpenSCAD 2014.03
would also fix #711760.

I would be happy to sponsor any uploads for the packages mentioned
above.

Cheers,
Adrian
