Sure. we can do a UDD query when we see an incoming bin-new package which (e.g.) looks at how many other packages depend on that in some way. We can look at the combined popcon of that set, and just how large the set is generally, and make some kind of heuristic decision. This is all just hand-waving, of course, until I have some concrete examples of bin-new packages that need this kind of consideration. > > Perhaps better still, if we're going to warn the reviewer about > > that, would be to warn the uploader, and require them to unblock > > the review process before the DFSG team even saw the package. > > > I'm unsure if autoreject is the solution (if that's what you meant, > I'm not sure I got your intention). Not suggesting an "auto-reject", but our setup has a "Waiting" status that we could expand to "Waiting for Developer Confirmation". In my imagination this would work something like: 1) Heuristic triggered 2) EMail sent to uploader+maintainer+sponsor+??? explaining the state 3) Uploader(/...) clicks magic link in e-mail to go to DFSG dashboard 4) Uploader(/... chooses to unblock or reject But if it needs to be something different, the best time to rewrite it is when it's just an imaginary process, for sure :-) Sorry to hear you won't make it to DebConf - I do love to meet Debian people face to face, and from New Zealand it is otherwise quite rare.
