Ever since I started using Debian about two years ago I have been gnashing my teeth here because the DEL/HOME/END keys did not work at the prompt. Now I discover .inputrc.
This is IMO a prime candidate for something that can and should be installed along with bash on day one, on ix86 boxes. Or at least an offer to install it. I might be the only one on this list who is still wet behind the ears, but just in case I'm not, here is my ~/.inputrc:- #set bell-style visible #set show-all-if-ambiguous On "\e[1~": beginning-of-line "\e[3~": delete-char "\e[4~": end-of-line Lindsay
