You're stepping into quicksand by trying to use the COC to disprove my statement above. Whether it's in the Debian list COC or not, it is universal across technical mailing lists, has been for decades, and is simply common sense. It's not spelled out because it's universally understand, or assumed to be. If there are enough folk like yourself maybe it should be added to the COC, at least for the -user or help oriented lists.
