I did try to put an entry in fstab with a user option but it did not work. I created a directory /mnt/mmc and tried to mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 as ext3 with user option. Nothing changed. Still mounted at /media/<blah> with root owner. Could not write to it as non-root user.
