You can interact with MS DNS through DDNS (though there too, you'd have to either shell with ASPExec or make a COM DLL for ASP). But I'm still not clear on what Paul's project is and where's he's stuck. He implied that he was already able to program the DNS server (maybe just through zone files, as he didn't mention an API specifically), but hadn't figured out how to query DNS yet.
