Server side preference work is 99% done, so I imagine this will be
possible.
Matthew, is the "link display" portion of this functionality already
wrapped into your bug(s)? If not, and if you're pressed for time, I'd
be happy to write this code.

i actually like this better if we can swing it. once this pref is set,
the process of logging in and navigating to a collection in the
account browser is simpler than with the other option. as seen in the
qa meeting today, this is an important testing/diagnostic use case.
