Well I guess the better question is what NVidia cards are supported with Xorg,
GLX, Compviz, etc. ? I found this link on their site and all of the cards are
pretty old.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/solaris_supported.html

Not sure if there are better drivers included with Xorg and OpenSolaris. I
can't find any references or lists of what's supported or what's 3d compatible
under OpenSolaris. It definitely makes me worried about buying something that's
too old, doesn't work, or won't be supported in the future.

Ebay is not bad, got most of my sparc gear over the years on there and haven't
had any issues.

It all depends on what your intended usage is and your budget.

If you want cutting edge OpenGL and high-performance 3D, and a card that is not
likely to moved to "legacy support" soon, then the gtx 2xx series is my
personal recommendation. The store you mentioned does carry the 260 ($280
USD). However, I'm fortunate enough to live near a store called "Microcenter",
which has a significantly better selection.

My two personal things against a $30 quadro fx on ebay are:

* likely to be moved to legacy driver or won't have great 3d performance for
desktop/game-oriented usage

* unreliability of ebay vendors

Also be aware that many of the newer video cards require two PCI-X power
connectors from the power supply (you can get a molex adapter if you only have
one).
