Good evening.
Of course one size does not fit all. That is, why it is nice, that
there are different "sizes" - in Linux. After all, you are not forced
to use the gui. You simply have the option of doing so.
To be honest again, I do not quite get why the lack of this
(usability) feature improves the interoperability in OpenSolaris. This
feature is about tuning the system to ones liking in an easy and user
friendly way (as long as it works, which it does pretty well on my
truly tiny amount of systems), isn't it?
And as far as inconsistency is concerned: gnome does not behave
consistently, if you compare linux and opensolaris here. And I don't
think that linux is to blame here for adding a nice feature (which
works well enough, at least on my systems).
Cheers,
Alex
