[Mon Apr 27 18:02:36 2015] <dlester>: present
[Mon Apr 27 18:04:04 2015] <wfarner>: the only topic on my agenda is an update
on our upcoming 0.8.0 release
## 0.8.0 release progress ##
[Mon Apr 27 18:04:12 2015] <wfarner>: AURORA-904
[Mon Apr 27 18:04:37 2015] <wfarner>: last week we addressed a
recently-discovered compatibility issue, and kts has a review out for auth docs
[Mon Apr 27 18:04:50 2015] <kts>: everybody review
https://reviews.apache.org/r/33537/
[Mon Apr 27 18:04:51 2015] <wfarner>: AURORA-817
[Mon Apr 27 18:05:33 2015] <wfarner>: so heads up jfarrell, it's likely we'll
be calling on you to cut an RC tomorrow
[Mon Apr 27 18:05:49 2015] <wfarner>: or unblocked to do so, at least
[Mon Apr 27 18:06:42 2015] <wfarner>: floor is open for topics, otherwise a
short meeting
[Mon Apr 27 18:07:00 2015] <kts>: should we kick debian packaging to 0.9.0?
[Mon Apr 27 18:07:06 2015] <kts>: or is that getting close?
[Mon Apr 27 18:07:32 2015] <benley>: It's close but I didn't have time last
week to get it updated on review board. Hopefully this afternoon.
[Mon Apr 27 18:08:06 2015] <wfarner>: is it safe to say that we don't _need_ to
complete it for the RC/release, as the release is based on the source anyhow?
[Mon Apr 27 18:08:22 2015] <benley>: I don't know if it should be a release
blocker though - packaging can be done post-release
[Mon Apr 27 18:08:39 2015] <benley>: Yeah, what wfarner said.
[Mon Apr 27 18:08:41 2015] <zmanji>: I think we have two problems, 1. creating
packages for releases, 2. getting a mechanism to make 1 easy
[Mon Apr 27 18:08:58 2015] <zmanji>: we can always do 1 after any release and 2
is something we should aim to get soon
[Mon Apr 27 18:09:07 2015] <jfarrell>: morning everyone
[Mon Apr 27 18:09:32 2015] <benley>: Well, in theory it won't be hard to have
Jenkins produce packages. Not sure about publishing artifacts and such though.
[Mon Apr 27 18:10:07 2015] <jfarrell>: benley: packaging code should be
committed, but packages would be a different vote
[Mon Apr 27 18:10:08 2015] <wfarner>: nightlies from jenkins is basically my
dream right now
[Mon Apr 27 18:10:40 2015] <ssalevan>: so wrt packaging, i wanted to let y'all
know that i've been hacking up some RPM packaging:
https://github.com/apache/aurora/compare/master...ssalevan:ssalevan/rpm-spec
[Mon Apr 27 18:10:41 2015] <benley>: Also are we cool with targeting Ubuntu
14.04 LTS for the first round of debs?
[Mon Apr 27 18:11:05 2015] <jfarrell>: benley: yes, that is a good place to
start
[Mon Apr 27 18:11:07 2015] <wfarner>: i am comfortable with that. anything to
get started would be a boon
[Mon Apr 27 18:11:24 2015] <ssalevan>: i'm still working around some of the
python interpreter stuff (2.6 exists on EL5/6 vs 2.7 on new Fedorae and EL7),
but am close to having this RBable
[Mon Apr 27 18:11:46 2015] <kts>: I think that's fine, ultimately everyone will
have their favorite distribution and will be welcomed to submit patches to
improve their specific packages
[Mon Apr 27 18:12:49 2015] <wfarner>: ssalevan: awesome! if you haven't seen
benley's work at https://reviews.apache.org/r/31101/, you might compare notes
[Mon Apr 27 18:13:02 2015] <ssalevan>: ooh nice, /me looks
[Mon Apr 27 18:13:27 2015] <wfarner>: landing RPM and deb packages around the
same time would be fantastic
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:15 2015] <dlester>: wfarner: worth making an announcement
over, IMO
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:16 2015] <ssalevan>: looks like we've taken a similar tack,
also awesome about abstracting the runner embed script
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:23 2015] <wfarner>: dlester: +1
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:25 2015] <benley>: I'll do my best to get an update to
r/31101 by tomorrow.
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:42 2015] <wfarner>: benley: thanks!
[Mon Apr 27 18:14:50 2015] <wfarner>: anything else on the release/packaging
topic?
[Mon Apr 27 18:15:32 2015] <ssalevan>: i was curious; does apache maintain a CI
system?
[Mon Apr 27 18:15:43 2015] <wfarner>: yep, jenkins
[Mon Apr 27 18:15:47 2015] <ssalevan>: fan-tastic
[Mon Apr 27 18:15:50 2015] <wfarner>: builds.apache.org
[Mon Apr 27 18:16:15 2015] <wfarner>: floor is open for additional topics
[Mon Apr 27 18:16:17 2015] <jfarrell>: we also pay for travis enterprise
[Mon Apr 27 18:16:45 2015] <wfarner>: jfarrell: good to know! i was unaware
[Mon Apr 27 18:17:43 2015] <wfarner>: sounds like that's all for today. thanks
for chiming in, everyone!
[Mon Apr 27 18:17:46 2015] <wfarner>: ASFBot: meeting stop
