Ah. What should be used from this setting is the number format, if any, but only in case you're using a Formatted Field in the form, and do not specifiy an explicit number format in this field. In this case, the format you previously set at the table column is used. (I don't think the format from a /query/ ever propagated to a form control, but I might be wrong.
