Hi Michael

Yes, please do feel free to start a new thread on Git etiquette, common
practices, policies and so on. 

We can discuss whether or not we want to keep trunk as an unstable dev
branch or rename it to 5.0.x or master.

I am personally interested in finding a consensus if it is OK to re-
write branches, for instance, by squashing noisy commits and style
check fixes.
