While it's true that a release isn't going to include everything from
trunk, proposed 1.0 release is branched off 0.14, which was again branched
from trunk long time ago. If you compare the code base, you will see the
huge difference. If we call this release 0.14.1, I wouldn't have any
objection. Calling it 1.0 would be a misfortune in my opinion.

If we release 0.15 as the last 0.x release (and we can also simultaneously
release 0.14.1), then releasing 1.0 off trunk that supersedes both 0.15 and
0.14.1 in terms of functionality and stability will be much clearer,
meeting the all expectations for a major release.
