Most of the load-balancing we are discussing on this list is not for directly customer facing applications. These are proxies for application servers generally, but they need to be highly available. We are not trying to replace Cisco CSM's. But a hardware HTTP-only aware $20k device is not needed when I just need to load balance an app across 4 tomcat instances, for example.
