Github user afs commented on the pull request: https://github.com/apache/jena/pull/94#issuecomment-151288263 The assembler for general purpose datasets can do a lot of things because it can build many kinds of model and include them in the dataset. The in-memory dataset is somewhat simpler. It can load files, either quads, or triples (to the default graph) or load triples to a specific graph. Looks to me like start afresh. Maybe the best way is sketch out the design in email and get discussion going.
