It's no problem to have platform dependent pathes for OOo. The problem is that there is no "Linux" setting for this, only a "$(distro)" way of doing it. So while OOo's future plans (IMHO) will help the distributors in that regard it's a pity that they don't help us a bit by coming together and define this "Linux" setting. This is not only true for dictionaries but for other things as well.
