Hi Patrick, When I encountered this copy /var/ folder error message, I am
using Ubuntu 1404 64 bit. Regarding the xattr, I received the same message
with you(loop mount the rootfs on 1 folder):
root@yong-vm1:~# xattr 1/var/volatile/*
1/var/volatile/log: No such xattr: system.posix_acl_default
1/var/volatile/log: security.SMACK64
1/var/volatile/log: security.SMACK64TRANSMUTE
root@yong-vm1:~# which sh
/bin/sh
root@yong-vm1:~# ls -l /bin/sh
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4  1? 24 02:06 /bin/sh -> bash
