with some delay i have uploaded my draft on FOSDEM wiki page
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Conferences/FOSDEM/2009
I think about maybe 10 tags/terms/words that are arranged on the banner.
The tags are probably different important and we can show this by
emphasizing it with different font sizes.
It's just an idea, 10 is maybe already too much. We shouldn't overload
the banner with too much text. It should be an eye catcher not more!
Agree.
The message to bring across is: Great software; Easy to use; Free
Some ideas: 'Business ready'; 'your next office suite'
'80+ languages' (double + will often not be understand)
The typography of OpenOffice.org is not correct and have to be changed.
The question is do you like the idea and which tags should we use and we
need some rating for them. Let's say 1=important, 2=..., 3=..., - 4=less
important
I think emphasizing can be done best with different font sizes (as you
suggest above) and effects. No tags.
When done by good hands, it is also visual attractive.
Furthermore I suggest to leave out the version number '3'.
- thus the banner can be used longer (if wanted)
- it will be distinctive from future versions of OOo by design.
Mybe something more can be done with the design.
With due respect to Jacek, I payed a bit with the coloured balls. Just
as idea.
