Just to inform you that this problem has been resolved in version 8.21 of checkstyle, which was just released, and I've confirmed the fix works by running the ITs on the checkstyle-plugin (checked out master on Cygwin). There are two other failures, though (was one failure with 8.20 if I recall correctly, apart from the EOL issue still present in that version).
