Maven RC4 works with NTLM ,,, These are the settings i had success with (my prev 
comment was wrong :-)

maven.proxy.username =username
maven.proxy.password =password
maven.proxy.host =proxy....
maven.proxy.port =80
maven.proxy.ntlm.host =myhostname
maven.proxy.ntlm.domain =myNTdomainname

Description:
Some users reside inside a proxy firewall where NTLM authentication is used.  Current
